Fall 2022 Admissions
UCalgary's fall 2022 application opens on October 1, 2021. We continue to recommend that students apply as early as possible, with the first round of rolling admission offers being made in mid-November. Similar to previous years, students are able to apply for two programs within their single application and the application fee is $125 CAD for students with Canadian credentials and $145 CAD for students with international credentials. UCalgary's Prestige and High School Entrance Award application also opens on October 1, and are available for students to submit as soon as they've completed their admission application. We have prepared short 1-page summary documents for Canadian and International applicants for your convenience. Helpful Resources To help support you and your students this year, we are pleased to highlight the following resources:
We have a number of exciting prospective student events planned for the fall term:
Faculty Feature Counsellors, do you have students who want to design a better world – one that is healthier, more sustainable, vibrant, and equitable? The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) teaches students how to see and think about the world around them – from objects and buildings to cities and regions. We offer introductory courses for students who know they want a professional career in city building, or want to learn more about design. For undergraduate UCalgary students, SAPL has a Minor in Architectural Studies (ARST Minor), focused on design thinking and creating, prototype designs that solve real-world problems, 3D modelling, rendering and graphic design programs that communicate design vision and strategy. When UCalgary students complete the ARST Minor and an undergraduate degree, they can apply directly into the two-year Master of Architecture (MArch) program - giving them a one-year jump start. Click here for more information. Please see attached letter regarding the PEO Star Scholarship application process. This scholarship is available to female students, graduating in June 2022, but the initial application letter is due October 8, 2021.
Meghan Thompson Student Recruitment Officer University of Victoria | uvic.ca 250-853-3584 [email protected] Welcome back to a brand new school year! I hope you enjoyed a relaxing summer break and your first few weeks back welcoming students to the classroom are going well so far. I wanted to pass along some UVic information that you and your students might find helpful as they start researching their post-secondary options this fall.
Digital viewbook Our 2022-2023 undergraduate viewbook is now available, and you can find a digital version on our website here. Virtual events for prospective students This fall, we’re continuing to offer a number of virtual events.
Registration for virtual events is open now on our Events website. Campus Tours Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UVic Campus Tours are still on hold. We expect Campus Tours to resume once UVic enters Step 4 of the BC Restart plan. In the meantime, students can watch our Campus Tour video and experience a Virtual Tour on our website. Please refer to our Campus Tours website for more information on the return of Campus Tours. Staff introductions We have some additional members of our team that many of your students may find helpful. Monty Raisinghani supports prospective Engineering & Computer Science students, and he can be reached at [email protected]. David Busch and Samantha Daniels support prospective Indigenous students, and their contact information can be found on our website here. Please let your students know that they can contact Monty, David and Samantha with any specific questions. Booking student appointments Students and parents can book virtual and in-person appointments with me to get all of their questions answered and learn how to become a UVic student. Virtual appointments can be booked using our online booking system, and in-person appointments can be booked by contacting [email protected]. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions that you or your students may have, and I’m very happy to help. I can be reached by email at [email protected] by phone at 250-853-3584. I’m looking forward to jumping into another UVic recruitment season alongside you and your students! All the best, Meghan Another September is upon us, and much like last year, there is still so much unknown. Our goal as the Recruitment team at Western is to ensure that you can support your students as they prepare for post-secondary. Please know that you can reach out to us at any time by email, chat, or telephone.
We are so excited to share that we have launched a brand-new Welcome Website! It's going to look and feel different to what you're used to, so please make sure to check it out and update your bookmarks. The site answers three questions: What Can I Study? With overviews of each faculty (program-specific information coming soon!), and an explanation of how Western degrees work, this section will help your students explore their academic options. What is Western Like? Using the PLACE acronym you might recognize from our Choose Western presentations, we cover student life, careers support, residence, and more! What Are My Next Steps? This is the big one! Here you'll find admission requirements, financial aid resources, and our step-by-step application guide. The new Welcome Website is designed to replace our viewbook (spoiler - we don't have a viewbook this year!). This initiative will help save countless trees and reduce our carbon footprint. Since we all love a snapshot of what's new, here's a few key updates from us to get the year started:
In addition to weekly evening presentations, we are piloting a few daytime presentation options. If this is something you think your school might be interested in, please email indicating your school and the dates and times that work best for you. We will gauge interest and work to coordinate an event that several schools can attend simultaneously. Our Campus Tours and on-campus events remain paused for the remainder of the year. We hope to re-launch in the new year pending guidance from the Middlesex-London Health Unit, in addition to following university and government guidelines. Lastly, please make sure that we have your updated contact information. With many of our supports offered virtually again this year, we want to be sure that we're connecting with the right people. You can do that here. Sincerely, Chris and Lauren THIS GROUP IS FOR CHILDREN AGES 6-17 AND THEIR FAMILY
MEMBERS WHO ARE GRIEVING THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE. FAMILIES WILL BE INVITED TO CREATE ART, MAKE CRAFTS, PLAY GAMES, AND PARTICIPATE IN OTHER FUN ACTIVITIES TO LEARN A VARIETY OF HEALTHY WAYS TO EXPRESS GRIEF AND REMEMBER OUR SPECIAL LOVED ONES WHILE WE FOCUS ON CONTINUING OUR BONDS WITH THEM. The following changes were implemented last year and continue to be in effect for the 2022 competition:
My name is Akanksha and I am a Outreach Coordinator for Youth at SCWIST (scwist.ca/) an organization that works to introduce K-12 girls to a wide range of exciting career options and positive female role models in STEM.
Do you know a grade 10-12 girl who wants to explore science, tech, engineering and math (STEM) careers and find out what engineers and scientists do every day? Or needs some school or career advice that’s tailored to her? eMentoring, our free online mentoring program, can help with exactly that. eMentoring is a 6-week program that pairs girls in high schools across Canada with female role models in STEM. Students and their mentors are then sent weekly discussion questions, covering topics such as career path, post-secondary life, work environments, finances, and work/life balance. eMentoring is done entirely over email. The time commitment is approximately 1 hour a week. Registration for eMentoring is now open. It would be great if you could share information about this program with those who might be interested at your school. I have also attached a shareable poster to this email in case that is helpful. The next round of eMentoring runs from October 4th until November 12th (6 weeks). Applications are due September 30th. Students can apply online: https://scwist.ca/forms/ementoring-student-application/?swcfpc=1 Read more about the program here: https://scwist.ca/programs/ms-infinity/ If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I am writing today because Minerva BC is now accepting applications for our Learning to Lead™ STEM program!
This program is for self-identified girls who are curious about STEM fields and want to develop the confidence to follow a non-traditional path. We are looking for 25 curious problem-solvers in Grades 10-12 ready to connect with themselves, other STEM curious students, and to a network of inspiring mentors working in STEM fields. Throughout the Learning to Lead™ program, participants develop their confidence through workshops that identify their key strengths and core values. They leave the program with greater self-awareness, a supportive network of friends and mentors, and the inspiration to take on new challenges and opportunities. Learning to Lead™ focuses on:
L2L STEM Timing:
All sessions take place on Zoom. There is no cost to participants. All program costs are covered by donors and sponsors who believe in the leadership potential of youth.
