September 20, 2019 Dear Class of 2020 Female students: If you are interested in applying for the PEO Star Scholarship for 2020, you must begin the process now. A letter indicating your interest in being considered for this prestigious $2500.00 scholarship needs to be sent to the local School Board Office by Friday, October 11th. The letter needs to describe your school and community service involvement; your individual area of talent in Athletics, Fine Arts (or both); and must be accompanied by a grade 11 transcript of marks. The letter needs to identify what grade 12 courses you will be studying for your grade 12 year, and what your future post secondary academic plans are for 2020-2021. Please list two references with contact information. Complete letters of reference will be expected if you become our Chapter’s nominee. If you are selected as the nominee for our PEO Chapter, you must be prepared to complete an online application before November 30, 2019. The nominee application form includes all the previous information you will have given our Chapter, plus an essay. A successful applicant will receive the $2,500. once proof of post secondary acceptance is sent to the national PEO committee next spring. The P.A.U.L. Initiative is for high school students in grades 8 to 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. in Old Main 2551. Our tutors and volunteers help students in mathematics, sciences, French and English. The P.A.U.L. Initiative is named in honour of Paul Jubinville, one of our first volunteer tutors, who died of cancer during the first semester of this service. Check the schedule on the door for daytime hours when students can use the room as a quiet place to work and study.
