Jenika HeimAdviser | EducationUSA Fulbright Canada 350 Rue Albert St. Suite 2015 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1R 1A4 +1.613.688.5519 | [email protected] | educationusacanada.ca I’m writing from the Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (also known as EFry) to ask for your support in sharing information with your district’s schools about our free program, Future Bright, that helps families with net income of less than $48,535 access up to $3,200 in federal and provincial government savings grants that are available to fund their child’s education after high school.
We are asking for your support in communicating to your student’s families that these grants are available and EFry’s Future Bright program is here to offer help with every step in the application process. While studies have shown having as little as $500 saved for post high-school education can increase students’ likelihood of graduating, 6 in 10 eligible children don’t access the grants. Future Bright helps families overcome the barriers to claiming these grants, which many people don’t know exist: · Obtaining the necessary government ID needed at no cost. · Setting up a no-cost RESP for their child. Both grants are deposited into the RESP. · Claiming the Canada Learning Bond, valued at $2,000, available for children up to and including age 15. · Claiming the BC Training & Education Grant of $1,200, available for children who are 6 to 8 years old. In addition to live, personalized support by phone or Zoom, Future Bright has created a series of video tutorials to walk families through the different steps in the process. Families only need to watch the videos that pertain to their situation. More information about Future Bright and our video tutorial series can be found at myfuturebright.ca. We hope you will share this information with the schools in your district. We will also be reaching out to schools and PACs in the hope of making more people aware of the grants and our program to help people access them. I won't spend too much time addressing the elephant in the room, other than to let you know that CAT has been successful in orchestrating a strong plan to deal with COVID. Back in March, we took all our classes online and did a partial return to in-class deliver in July. We did have an October start of a blended, on-campus/in-person and online/remote delivery classes and it has been going really well. It was a steep learning curve for our staff and students, but we are proud of everyone for rising to the challenges this year has presented. You can find all of Centre for Arts and Technology's COVID updates online at https://digitalartschool.com/covid-updates
The main reason for my email is to let you know that at this time, we are planning on moving ahead with Digital Bootcamp for 2021 and registration is open! I have attached the 2021 brochure and I will direct your attention to the "Produce. Mix. Master." mission which is a brand new audio-centric mission for 2021 and has the option to be taken on campus like the rest of our missions, or ONLINE, remote delivery! Bootcamp registrations are all done online at https://digitalartschool.com/bootcamp and the early bird fee of $225 is in effect until December 31st 2020. We hope that some of your amazing students can join us in 2021 for Bootcamp and further to that, that COVID will allow Bootcamp 2021 to go ahead as planned! We hope you are staying safe! Please let us know how we can support you in this challenging year; our recruitment team has virtual presentation options ready to go and we're able to offer customized sessions suited to you and your students upon request. Any questions, please let me know! Kind regards, Megan Megan Reid Marketing Manager Centre for Arts and Technology Hello and best wishes from our team here in snowy Saskatoon. Winter has arrived, and that has us thinking about some important dates in the University of Saskatchewan (USask) calendar and related need-to-know information.
In this update:
It is the deadline to apply and submit required supplemental items to be considered for early admission for 2021-2022 for these programs: December 1 is also the deadline for entering students to apply for admission to any direct-entry program and submit required supplemental items in order to be eligible to apply for Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships. Submitting transcriptsWith changes to high school schedules now in place in many regions, counsellors have been asking if there is any change to when students should submit required supplemental items, including transcripts. International and out-of-province students should always upload their most up-to-date transcript or report card as soon as possible after applying, and continue to check their application online to learn if other supplemental items are required. Students in Saskatchewan high schools should continue to request transcripts to be sent directly to USask by the Ministry of Education three times: 1) as soon as possible; 2) after January exams 2021; and 3) after June exams 2021. Students can request transcripts to be sent at the end of each quint, though the Admissions Office will not be re-evaluating students' applications every time they are received outside of the usual evaluation periods. Learn more about submitting supplemental items like transcripts. Best and Brightest Entrance ScholarshipsBest and Brightest Entrance Scholarships include some of USask's highest valued renewable entrance scholarships. Selection criteria for these awards include academic achievement and/or leadership and contributions to school and community life, and values range from $12,000 ($3,000/year over four years) to $40,000 ($10,000/year over four years). Five of these awards are set aside to be preferentially awarded as Circle of Honour awards, which are designated for Indigenous students. To be considered, applicants must apply for admission and submit required supplemental items such as transcripts by December 1. Applicants will then gain access to USask's web portal, PAWS, where they can find and submit the application for Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships, including short- and long-answer questions for some awards, by December 15. Learn more about Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships Education info sessionsProspective students are invited to join representatives from the College of Education for a virtual information session featuring a brief presentation about our Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree program followed by a Q&A session.
