Good morning,
We want to reach out to give you an update about Green Shirt Day and April organ donation awareness activities, in the context of the extraordinary and unprecedented COVID-19 situation taking place around the world. One of BC Transplant’s priorities is to protect the health and well-being of the community we serve. For that reason, we will not proceed with or support any in-person organ donation awareness initiatives, speaking engagements, or community registration drives. As a result of BC school closures, we have also have also cancelled the “Live Life. Pass It On” Scholarships for the 2020 school year, due to the current COVID-19 situation in the province. We will work to provide scholarship opportunities for Grade 12 students in the 2020-21 school year. Warm regards, Alicia Alicia Di Cesare Coordinator, Volunteer Initiatives and Community Development BC Transplant [email protected] B 604-877-2141 Register to be an Organ Donor Live Life. Keeping You Informed
School District No. 73 is working closely with the Ministry of Health, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Centre for Disease Control regarding COVID-19. The District has plans in place to respond to this new illness, as the province is preparing for the possibility of a pandemic. We are committed to keeping parents, students and the community informed about health and safety issues. Coronavirus is not airborne and the risk in BC remains low. Simply do the same things you would do to avoid common viruses. The best defence is to regularly wash your hands and avoid touching your face. We will provide regular updates. Check our homepage sd73.bc.ca, or download our app to receive updates as we post them. You can download the SD73 Mobile App through Apple or Android. Information about COVID-19, including advice and guidance to schools, is regularly updated on the BC Centre for Disease Control site. www.sd73.bc.ca/en/community-parents-and-students/covid-19-updates.aspx EBUS Spring Break

While the application deadline for Limited Intake programs has passed, we have extended the deadline for select Limited Intake programs; an up-to-date list of extended application deadlines can be found at https://www.kpu.ca/admission/deadlines-extended. Students applying to Open Intake programs may do so until August 1, 2020, but should note that offer letters have already gone out to students who applied before the March 1 early application deadline, so we encourage all prospective students to apply as soon as possible in order to receive priority registration. Scholarships & Awards The deadline to apply for Entrance Scholarships for Fall 2020 is April 6, 2020. Scholarship applications are now available for students intending to begin their studies in January 2021. https://www.kpu.ca/awards/entrance-scholarship Future Business Leaders Conference May 1-2, 2020: KPU is hosting a two-day business conference for Grade 11/12 high school students. High school business departments will also receive monetary awards if their students place in the top 3 of the competition. To register a student group: https://www.kpu.ca/futureleaders (space is limited). Reminders for students who have applied or will be applying
Students who have applied, or will be applying, to MacEwan should log in to the university’s student portal (myPortal.MacEwan.ca) to check on the status of their application and if there are any items on their to-do list. Outstanding items on a to-do list will delay an offer of admission. Admission offers can also be delayed if the student hasn’t declared their current and next term high school course registration: the Grade 12 courses they have completed, the classes they are currently in and the classes they will be taking next term. Students should include this information when they apply through ApplyAlberta, but, if they forget, they can complete MacEwan’s Confirmation of High School Registration form (also accessible through the student portal). Applying to the correct term All students currently enrolled in high school courses should apply to the Fall 2020 intake term. It’s not an uncommon occurrence for students to submit an application for the incorrect intake term, because intake terms on ApplyAlberta are listed chronologically. Students see the Spring 2020 intake as the first available option, and may miss selecting the Fall 2020 term. Many MacEwan programs do not offer Spring intake, so one indication a student has selected the wrong intake term is that the program they are interested in does not appear in the list of available programs. If a student applies to the incorrect intake term, they can get assistance by emailing [email protected] using their myMacEwan email account. Change to offer acceptance period Beginning with applications for Winter 2021 intake and beyond, students will have 21 days to accept an offer of admission. It is important to encourage students to check their myStudentSystem regularly throughout the admission cycle to ensure they’re aware of required actions and their timelines. Intake and deadline information for all programs can be found at: MacEwan.ca/Admissions > Dates & Deadlines Fall 2020 application deadlines If your students are planning to apply to a program for Fall 2020 please be sure they are aware of the application deadline for their program of interest. Programs at the university have either a March 30 or June 30 application deadline. The deadline for most of our competitive programs is March 30. The deadline for international students to apply for Fall 2020 intake is May 1. Please reinforce with your students the need to apply early for programs without competitive admission criteria. These programs admit on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis and may begin waitlisting before the application deadline. Students interested in applying for competitive programs that also have non-academic competitive criteria (e.g., audition, portfolio, fitness test, questionnaire, etc.) must submit an application for admission prior to submitting those non-academic competitive pieces. Winter 2021 applications open Applications for admission to programs offering an intake in the Winter 2021 term opened on February 1. Programs offering a Winter 2021 intake have an application deadline of either September 30 or November 30. The application deadline for international students is September 30 for all winter intake programs. Please note that not all programs offer a winter intake.
