Good morning and welcome to the May newsletter, the final month before the blazing summer heat kicks in. Before we jump into the updates, I would like to inform you that over 600 students, who applied to KPU, have not submitted their Student Transcripts Service (STS) through the system. We have sent emails to remind students but if you are able to relay a general reminder that would also be much appreciated. As you may already know, we’ve been testing our email deployments with the new CRM system (Customer Relationship Management). It has been brought to our attention that my emails may have been classified as spam for some of you. If this is the case, please inform your colleagues that are not receiving my emails to check their junk inbox and allow sends from my email address. If you have colleagues that would like to join our mailing list, please feel free to have them email me directly so I can add them to the system. Last Call on Priority Registration for Fall Applications Did you know that students can receive priority registration dates? Well, if you have a student that’s interested in attending KPU this fall, it’s not too late to receive priority registration dates for an open intake program if they meet all the admission requirements. The deadline to apply and complete their application (including paying their confirmation deposit) for priority registration is June 1st. Applications will continue to be accepted past June 1st but students will not receive priority registration. View Open Intake Programs Fall Applicant Night
It’s that time again - another year of working remote, another virtual event. We are virtually hosting Fall Applicant Night on Wednesday, May 12 from 6:30-8:00pm. If you have any students that have already applied to KPU and received their offer letter but are unsure if they want to accept, we encourage you to invite them to our event. They’ll get the opportunity to network with faculty, academic advisors, staff, and also enter in to win one of two prizes of $250 in free tuition. If you know any grade 10 – 12 students that fit the above criteria, let them know that KPU is hosting our first Leaders for Change Forum on May 17th at 4:00pm. Students will get to network with industry professionals and get a glimpse into what their typical workdays are like, what job opportunities are on the horizon in their field, and what employers are looking for when hiring recent graduates for positions in this fast-growing economic sector. The event will be beneficial for professional development and resume building. This year we have Vantage Point as a guest speaker, alumni, and current students on a roundtable discussion on leadership and activism. This past year, our team tried to pivot and respond to the new environment and explore ways to support our prospective students. While we certainly would have preferred to be travelling and visiting students at events held in their schools, this past year created lots of learning and opportunities to connect virtually with prospective students. As we transition to more in-person activities in the Fall, we will be continuing to offer these virtual events for prospective students, their families and the school counsellors that support them. Educational advisors are also available to answer questions from students who have applied to VIU by phone at 250.740.6410 or email at [email protected]. If you have any questions, want to learn more about Vancouver Island University, or need any resources please reach out to us via email at [email protected] or call 250.740.6672 We look forward to working with you, Rob, Dylan, Jordan, Rolanda and Francesca Zoom Drop-in Email us Greetings from our team at the the University of Saskatchewan (USask)! We hope to see you, your students and parents at our upcoming virtual meet-ups leading up to the May 1 application deadline for many USask programs. In this issue, we share info about Learning Communities, which for some students are a mandatory requirement as part of their programs. In April, we'll keep running our weekly Q&As. There will be more upcoming information sessions about our programs, and application and admission processes. Given the success of our new USASKSparks webinars, we'll keep offering them in May, too. If your students don't know yet what field interests them, or which university program to apply for, USASKSparks is what they need! We'll also have application workshops for special categories of students (see more info below). Also, watch your email for information about our online U-Start pre-orientation sessions (May 15-June 10). At U-Start, we'll teach admitted students how to register for classes and how to access resources for a stress-free transition to university. As always, please let us know what you need in your role to support prospective students as they consider their futures and post-secondary education opportunities at USask. From all of us here at USask, thank you for all you do. In this update:
