Good morning and welcome to the May newsletter, the final month before the blazing summer heat kicks in. Before we jump into the updates, I would like to inform you that over 600 students, who applied to KPU, have not submitted their Student Transcripts Service (STS) through the system. We have sent emails to remind students but if you are able to relay a general reminder that would also be much appreciated. As you may already know, we’ve been testing our email deployments with the new CRM system (Customer Relationship Management). It has been brought to our attention that my emails may have been classified as spam for some of you. If this is the case, please inform your colleagues that are not receiving my emails to check their junk inbox and allow sends from my email address. If you have colleagues that would like to join our mailing list, please feel free to have them email me directly so I can add them to the system. Last Call on Priority Registration for Fall Applications Did you know that students can receive priority registration dates? Well, if you have a student that’s interested in attending KPU this fall, it’s not too late to receive priority registration dates for an open intake program if they meet all the admission requirements. The deadline to apply and complete their application (including paying their confirmation deposit) for priority registration is June 1st. Applications will continue to be accepted past June 1st but students will not receive priority registration. View Open Intake Programs Fall Applicant Night
It’s that time again - another year of working remote, another virtual event. We are virtually hosting Fall Applicant Night on Wednesday, May 12 from 6:30-8:00pm. If you have any students that have already applied to KPU and received their offer letter but are unsure if they want to accept, we encourage you to invite them to our event. They’ll get the opportunity to network with faculty, academic advisors, staff, and also enter in to win one of two prizes of $250 in free tuition. RSVP Now Leaders for Change Forum Are you a change-maker? Have you considered pursuing a career in promoting and partaking in philanthropic activities? If you know any grade 10 – 12 students that fit the above criteria, let them know that KPU is hosting our first Leaders for Change Forum on May 17th at 4:00pm. Students will get to network with industry professionals and get a glimpse into what their typical workdays are like, what job opportunities are on the horizon in their field, and what employers are looking for when hiring recent graduates for positions in this fast-growing economic sector. The event will be beneficial for professional development and resume building. This year we have Vantage Point as a guest speaker, alumni, and current students on a roundtable discussion on leadership and activism. RSVP Now Advising Program (Head Start) Limited spots still available in Head Start – Fall 2021. Last month we introduced our newest advising program – Head Start. We have been receiving favourable responses on how KPU can provide support new students who may need additional support as they transition to post-secondary education. We thank you for the collaboration and look forward to continued support for your students. If you are unaware of this initiative, Head Start is a guided program for first year students undertaking undergraduate studies:
