Admissions Update Applications for Fall 2022 intake will open on Friday, October 1. Application Evaluation When applying to the university through ApplyAlberta, students can select a first-choice and second-choice program. Students who have been placed on a waitlist for their first- choice program may receive an offer of admission on their second-choice program. They can decline the offer to their second choice and remain active on the waitlist for their first choice. If they do, they can re-activate their second choice before the application deadline to be reconsidered at the current competitive average (if applicable). Timing matters Students are strongly encouraged to make a decision whether to accept an offer to their second-choice program as soon as possible. Many of our programs are first-qualified, first- admitted, and students who delay accepting their offer have the potential to be in a position of no seats remaining in the second-choice program. Review admission criteria for their goal program. Important notes about deciding between first- and second-choice programs:
Apply online at ApplyAlberta.ca. Competitive Versus First-qualified, First admitted
Early Admission All programs automatically assess students for early admission. To ensure we have all necessary information, let your students know their ApplyAlberta profile should include all Grade 11 classes completed and all Grade 12 classes completed, classes currently underway and classes they will be taking. Early admission is based on a student's final grades in grade 11 and/or grade 12 courses. Should applicants make changes to their course schedule after applying, they can update their admission file by using the Confirmation of High School Registration form. We do not require midterm marks, but providing us with the most up-to-date information may ensure applicants are properly considered for early admission. Greetings from Chapel Hill!
This proves to be another extraordinary year. These challenging times have made us even more appreciative of the hard work you do to guide incredible students through the Morehead-Cain selection process. We appreciate you. For more than thirty years, Canadian students have come to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as Morehead-Cain Scholars and contributed to campus as dynamic and enthusiastic student leaders. And they remain connected to Carolina, Chapel Hill, and each other as alumni. About half of Canadian alumni live and work in Canada; the rest are spread around the world, from the United States to Singapore. The Morehead-Cain represents a compelling opportunity to study—and to make a difference—at one of the finest universities in the world. We choose scholars based on four criteria: leadership, moral force of character, scholarship, and physical vigour. In each high school senior class, there are a select few who embody these criteria and set a higher standard for the school community. We encourage you to nominate up to three of your strongest student leaders for the scholarship. We’ve attached a counsellor card and instructions to help you with this process, along with smaller cards that you may send to your nominees. As you begin to plan for this fall, please keep a few things in mind:
Please visit our website if you have additional questions about the nomination or application process. If you prefer a quick chat, please feel free to email us at [email protected] to set up a Zoom call. We look forward to the opportunity to get to know your nominees this year, and we appreciate your efforts on our behalf!
