The NSRA team also works to familiarize incoming first-year students with campus resources. The NSRA program strives to build incoming first-year students' confidence in navigating registration and their futures on campus! Please check out the NSRA website for details on how to contact us and book appointments. Did you know? UCalgary publishes a monthly Admission blog called "Ask the Recruitment and Admission Office". National Volunteer Appreciation Week: April 18-24By Thomas Golka Hearing one person say, “I’m here for you” and providing emotional support has value. Having the ability to say, “We’re here for you” and offering life-saving services to an entire community is powerful. Countless times over the past year we have been shown “the value of one, the power of many.” We have gained a deeper appreciation for these words that are driving National Volunteer Week from April 18th to the 24th. Volunteering at the Crisis Centre of BC truly brings this theme to life. Our unending mission has been to provide help and hope for individuals, organizations, and communities while being flexible enough to cover the full spectrum of crisis response, suicide prevention, and mental health support. Volunteering has been described as “the glue that holds a community together.” It’s definitely the glue that holds our work together. There are plenty of opportunities for volunteers to gain transferable skills and provide meaningful contributions. Full Story By Lu Ripley, Director of Community Engagement and LearningWith the latest news of enhanced public health measures, strategies to manage uncertainty and change are becoming increasingly vital. Crisis Centre programs provide easy and practical strategies that you can easily incorporate into your life. Great for individuals and staff teams.
“I appreciated the content, and these are tools I can apply going forward. I also appreciated that this course provided tools to improve my personal mental health (and not only for tactics to help improve the mental health of students) – this made me feel like Langara cares for its employees.” ~ Langara college staff, Tools for Managing Stress and Burnout participant “I really enjoyed the sessions. I felt it helped calm my anxiety on a busy day. After the session, I felt rejuvenated and able to continue the day with mindfulness and positivity. I learned a lot of great tools that I can incorporate throughout my day.” ~ Tools for Managing Stress and Burnout participant Upcoming sessions:
