Minerva BC is now accepting applications for our Learning to Lead™ program! Learning to Lead™ provides Grade 11 students with a virtual opportunity to increase confidence and explore their leadership potential while creating a network who will support them along their educational and career journeys. Throughout the Learning to Lead™ program, participants develop their confidence through workshops that identify their key strengths and core values. They leave the program with greater self-awareness, and the inspiration to take on new challenges and opportunities. Learning to Lead™ focuses on: • Being Authentic: embrace and accept your unique self • Self-Knowledge: identify your values and how to leverage your strengths • Increasing Confidence: practice sharing your ideas and taking risks • Being a Leader: learn what it means to be a leader and inspire others • Creating Connections: build relationships with peers and mentors We are excited to offer four different weeks of Learning to Lead™ in 2021 (dates below) to 200 youth across BC. Please note that successful applicants are selected to attend one of the program weeks. 2021 Program Dates • Week 1: May 3-7 • Week 2: May 10-14 • Week 3: May 17-21 • Week 4: May 31-June 4 All sessions will be from 6-8:30pm PST over Zoom. Please note that in order to participate, students must be able to attend all five evenings of the program week. This is an invitation to fully devote five evenings to their learning, growth, and fun! This program is open to 200 female, trans, and non-binary youth. There is no cost to participants. All program costs are covered by donors and sponsors who believe in the leadership potential of youth. Letter of support from a nominating sponsor As part of this application process, the student will also be required to upload a letter of support from their nominating sponsor (e.g., a teacher, guidance counsellor, coach). The letter should be no more than 500 words and should outline how they have demonstrated the following criteria: • Independent thought • Taking on and overcoming challenges • Desire to contribute to a better world Please note that there is no maximum to how many students a school can nominate. In addition to core engineering skills (mechanical, electrical, software), engineering physicists are equipped with a deep understanding of fundamental science and analytical methods to tackle challenges at the forefront of any field, from biotechnology and medicine to quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and aerospace.
