We’re just over a month into the school year and I hope that things are off to a great start. Between the CUE, PSBC, OOP and institution-specific updates you may have attended in the past 6 weeks, there has been a lot of post-secondary information headed your way. Here are a few UVic-specific highlights: Explore UVic - On Saturday, November 26th the University of Victoria will welcome prospective students and their families to our beautiful campus for the first campus wide open house since 2019. “Explore UVic” will feature campus tours including residence buildings, sample lectures, student experience panels and more. We are happy to announce that we have been awarded accreditation through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board of Engineers Canada.
Admission to the Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering at TRU is NOW OPEN for Fall 2023 and seats are limited. In the Department of Engineering, we want to ensure students at different academic levels have an opportunity to explore the Software Engineering industry, which is one reason we have an admission grade requirement of only 67% or higher, except ENGL 12, which is 73%. This is just one of the many advantages of applying to the BEng in Software Engineering at TRU. If students want to take advantage of the lower academic requirements, they must apply right away because we are processing applications and making admission decisions as they are received. Included with this letter is a poster outlining the benefits of the BEng in Software Engineering program at TRU and within the industry. We are asking you to display this poster visible for students, so they learn about the engineering program offered at TRU. I would appreciate you sharing this information specifically with Grade 10, 11 and 12 students at your school, so they are aware of this great opportunity to pursue engineering as a profession. APPLY NOW Admission Requirements: High School Admission Requirements 1. BC Grade 12 (or equivalent). 2. BC English 12/English 12 First Peoples with a minimum of 73% (or equivalent). 3. Pre-Calculus 12 with a minimum of 67% (or equivalent). 4. Physics 11 with a minimum of 67% (or equivalent). 5. Chemistry 11 with a minimum of 67% (or equivalent). The deadline to enter the Acres Innovation Competition is fast approaching. Students are encouraged to form a group of up to 5 and register using the form below by October 31st. Individual students can still apply and will be encouraged to team up during the training session provided by the engineering department. The training session will introduce the competition, deadlines, and rule book. Up to $4000 in scholarships will be awarded to the winning team, as well as other prizes and swag. Please share this great opportunity with Grade 12 students and have them register and ask questions using this form: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/AcresCompetition.
