UCalgary National Recruiters are also finalizing their trip plans for in-person travel to your campus this fall. Although we will not be participating in large-scale fairs, we are still hoping to arrange an independent visit to your school. If an in-person option is not available, we are happy to provide a digital alternative via webinar. We appreciate all of your support and look forward to connecting with you again this fall! Valleyview Secondary Students should contact the BC Recruitment Advisor: (Ms. Gavelin will try and coordinate a virtual school visit with CLC and CLE classes. Individuals may also book sessions with Gillian). Gillian Chan Student Recruitment Advisor Student Recruitment Team | Office of the Registrar University of Calgary T: +1.403.220.6912 E: [email protected] We have received many responses from schools indicating they are only able to host virtual visits. Since there has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding this fall season, we have ultimately decided that we will not be physically travelling this fall to BC. With that being said, we are still hosting virtual visits with schools, and I would be more than happy to set up one with your school. We are currently using Webinarjam or Zoom to host virtual visits, but please let me know if there is a preferred delivery method for your school! If you would like to arrange a virtual visit with me, please let me know if there is a specific date or time that would work best. Lastly, we will be sending out viewbook packages to all of our schools, so please expect a few resources are coming your way! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Counsellor Hotline: 1.403.220.6921 WhatsApp for Canadian Students and Counsellors: wa.me/14036058635 High School Counsellor and Advisors Support Page: Click here VFS offers programs in: Animation, Writing, Acting, Game Design, Programming, Motion, Interactive, & Graphic Design, Film Production, Make Up, Sound Design, and VR/AR development.

Kamloops/Kootenays - PSBC Fall Virtual Fair
Wednesday, October 14 2:00pm t0 6:00pm Thursday, October 15 3:00pm t0 7:00pm We are asking for your assistance in having students access the Fairs on the assigned days. We are doing this to avoid having thousands of students trying to log in on the same days in the first couple of weeks, which would make it difficult for both our reps and the students. There is plenty of time over the next several weeks for students and parents right across the province to take part in our schedule of fairs. As well, you need to know that: - Our Fairs are for Grade 11 & 12 students only. We are planning to offer separate Fairs in January specifically for Grade 10 students. More info on that later this fall. - You do not need to bring students together in your schools to take part in the virtual fairs. We do not want to intrude on what may be limited class times in your schools. - The times we have established allow students to take part when and where they choose; if they need to access school computers, it would be after school. - Visitors can login in at any time during the 4-hour fairs; those institutions doing live presentations will start them at 15-minutes after the hour; some institutions might do four presentations, while others may only do one or two, so students should plan to use all the time available to them to explore all the members booths in the fair and see who are doing presentations. Some institutions will also have pre-recorded presentations that can be viewed at any time. - Students can return at almost any time after their assigned days to visit the booths, view pre-recorded video presentations and download documents. In between our live fair events the platform will be open most of the time so students, parents and you can access this information. If you and/or teachers want to use pre-recorded videos on the platform in a class, please feel free to do so. - Our platform will also be hosting events for Strengthening Connections, the Aboriginal Student Recruitment group. If you would like a copy of their schedule please let me know. - We have also scheduled three 'Community Fairs' which are open to anyone; if students are anxious to connect with an institution, they can take in the first of these events. These are also ideal times for parents to connect. The first two will be held on: Wednesday, October 21 3:00pm – 7:00 pm Saturday, November 14 Noon – 4:00 pm Wednesday, December 2 3:00pm - 7:00pm - Here is a link to a short 1-minute video that provides a clear introduction for you and your students on how to use the Virtual Fair platform: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7-Ath_mH2E I also encourage you to also regularly go to our website [www.postsecondarybc.ca] where you will see under EVENTS that many of our member institutions are starting to schedule many different kinds of virtual presentations and information sessions that both students and parents would be interested in. Please continue to share our website with your students and parents as a primary resource for post-secondary information. Best regards, Josh Keller Administrative Co-ordinator Post-Secondary BC www.postsecondarybc.ca |
