The Schulich School of Engineering is pleased to announce an Indigenous student pathway program intended to encourage Indigenous Peoples who are interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to study at the Schulich School of Engineering. We will to foster an Indigenous-centred community in which students are provided with the requisite supports that promote their skill development, well-being, and success as engineering scholars. We are excited to announce two new majors that we will be accepting applications for this year. The Bachelor of Design in City Innovation is the first undergraduate degree in Western Canada that combines design thinking with a focus on innovative change in the physical and social infrastructure of cities. The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Systems Engineering is a technical, transdisciplinary field focusing on how to design, integrate, and manage complex systems over their life cycles, with a goal of environmental, economic, and social sustainability. As with our other Engineering programs, students take a common for year before selecting a major. We offer guaranteed first choice of program to students who successfully complete all 10 technical common-core courses in their first year.

Students who are nominated for the Book Award will be invited to apply for the National Scholarship. An email notification will be sent to your student nominee immediately after submitting your online nomination. The email congratulates the student on becoming a Book Award recipient and encourages them to apply for the National Scholarship. Eligibility Criteria: WE are looking for a student for the National Book Award who demonstrates superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional extra-curricular achievement in abroad context, regardless of which post-secondary institution they plan on attending in September 2023. Nominees must be: a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person, currently in their final year of secondary school. The Book Award will be mailed to your school in April to be presented to the student at their graduation or awards ceremony in June2023. National Scholarship Eligibility Criteria: The selection of National Scholars is based on superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional extra-curricular achievement in a broad context. Book Award nominees, as well as students who identify themselves as meeting the scholarship criteria, are invited to apply for the National Scholarship. If a student plans on taking a gap year, they may apply to the National Scholarship (and for university admission) during their final year of secondary school and then request an admission deferral. Students currently on a gap year are not eligible to apply. Award Value: The 2023 University of Toronto National Scholarship covers tuition, incidental and residence fees for up to four years of undergraduate study at the University of Toronto. The Loran Award is an exciting opportunity for students considering university studies in fall 2023. The only award of its kind in Canada, the Loran Award is a four-year leadership enrichment program comprised of summer work experiences, mentorship, annual gatherings, an annual living stipend, a tuition waiver at one of 25 university partners, and a community of people working to build a better world.
