As we know, anxiety is the fastest growing mental health problem in North America and is on the rise in our youth. I am guessing you see your fair share of it in your roles! In the last 15 years of teaching elementary and high school, I could see anxiety rise each year, in parents and kids. Now, as we move through the last stages of the pandemic, anxiety is going to rise again, which means it is important for parents to know how they can support their kids to problem solve, be flexible, and practice courage when worried, nervous, or anxious.
This fall, I will lead a course for parents of anxious kids, called, "Normalize the Nerves" . The flyer is attached below. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or inquiries. -- Warmly, Rolynda Simpson B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) Scholarship Deadlines:

Watch today The Loran Scholars Foundation is beginning its search for the 2022 Loran Scholars, and we need your help to identify students who demonstrate strength of character, dedication to serving others in the community, and the promise of leadership potential.
We look for those who are humble, inquisitive, and thoughtful; who shun the status quo and pursue their own unique paths; who bring others along, will act in the face of injustices, and are inspired to build a better world. We believe Canada will thrive if we ensure that these high-potential students are given the opportunity to imagine, explore, and create the future. We invite you to hear more about what the Loran Award and the Loran community have meant to our most recent graduates, the Class of 2017. Valued at up to $100,000, the Loran Award includes study at one of our 25 partner universities in Canada, a living stipend, funding to access summer experiences in Canada and abroad, mentorship, and participation in a community of supporters and alumni working towards a better country and world. Learn more here. This year, there is a single deadline for all applicants: October 13, 2021 before 8pm ET. All eligible students will be welcome to apply by filling out the application, uploading a transcript, and naming a reference. School sponsorship is no longer required. There is no limit to the number of students who may apply from a single school. We rely on you to identify promising candidates showing evidence of character, a commitment to service, and leadership potential. Sometimes you see these qualities in students before they see them in themselves. Your help is as vital as ever—please continue to be actively involved and connect as many eligible students as you would like with the opportunity. We depend on you to identify and encourage your students to apply, and to support them in submitting their applications on time. ● Invite those students to register for one of our webinars specifically for interested applicants where they can learn more about the Loran Award and hear from Loran Scholars. o Student Webinar 1: Sept. 22@ 12pm ET o Student Webinar 2: Sept. 29 @ 6pm ET Your students may now access our online application system at apply.loranscholar.ca.
