Weyt-kp! Welcome back to the Thompson Rivers University Counsellor Newsletter, the TRU Current. We want to keep you up to date, so students are provided with the most accurate information about attending TRU.
In this issue, we highlight Fall 2021 Applications, Virtual Open House, Future Students Timeline & Events for Future Students. Applications for Fall 2021 Programs are now OPEN! Our Virtual Open House is now live and we've curated some amazing resources to introduce students to Thompson Rivers University! We are sad we can't host future students and guests on campus this fall for our Open House event, so we've brought the TRU campus experience online! Check it out www.tru.ca/future/virtual-open-house.html For British Columbia counsellors and students: A quick reminder to check out the remaining Post Secondary BC school Virtual Fairs, held from now until December 2nd, 2020. Please note, some of the event times have changed. Find an updated calendar (and other helpful events and links) on the Post Secondary BC webpage! For all counsellors and Indigenous learners: Strengthening Connections (SC) is a group of representatives from various post-secondary and public organizations committed to bringing Indigenous Peoples relevant information on their opportunities after high school. This year SC have committed to virtual recruitment in the interest of the health and safety of our communities. TRU, as a proud member of SC, is pleased to invite all interested Indigenous learners to connect with 24+ vendors who have curated these opportunities, and who will be available live to chat and connect on a platform called EZ Virtual Fairs during the listed fair times. While we wish we could come to your communities as usual, with the current circumstances we do have the added benefit of including students from across the country, and allow for multiple opportunities to sign on and explore. The information will remain up on the platform for students to access at any time, and the listed fair times are opportunities to engage with the vendors and attend specific institution’s presentations. Students can register for an upcoming event by creating a profile at the link below. Register Email [email protected] with any questions or for more information!

Ms. GavelinWelcome to the world of scholarships and post secondary planning! I have been working with Valleyview students since 2005 as a Counsellor and their Scholarship liaison. I won't be able to tell you exactly what to apply for but I can give you direction on your journey through this part of high school. Archives
