The Transitions Youth Employment program is a 10-week employability skills program funded by Service Canada. The program assists youth between the ages of 16-30 who are not full-time students gain the necessary skills and confidence to secure and maintain employment in their chosen field.
In the first four weeks of the program, participants attend Monday to Friday (9:00 am to 3:30 pm) and are paid $13.85 per hour while acquiring the following skills and training:
During the remaining six weeks of the program participants are supported by program staff as they start their new job. This helps to ensure a smooth transition to the workforce as they are supported in managing work and life, adapting to the routine of working and ensuring they are progressing positively in their new position. An incentive is offered to employers who choose to hire a youth from our program, and they can be reimbursed $13.85 per hour plus mandatory employee related costs to a maximum of 180 hours. This incentive can open doors to participants and help them to compete for jobs they may not have all the skills or training required by the employer. Our next program starts in late January and may be perfect for your early graduates or youth you know that have already left school. There is also an expanded pilot project that will be offered in late March 2020. We hope you will consider sharing our information with any youth who is looking for work and who is ready to commit to the requirements of the program or a parent, educator, or business who would benefit from knowing about our program. If you would like further information, please contact me at 250.318.0597 to discuss this opportunity. Prospective youth can call or text us to arrange a time to meet with us.
