You can read more about the program schedule online at www.bcchr.ca/minimedschool. Admission is free but space is limited to 65 students. Student registration will be available online between Thursday, February 15 and Friday, March 15. To keep things fair for all students, participants will be selected based on a lottery draw. Mini Med School strives to empower youth and promote an equitable and inclusive learning environment. Further space will be available for students who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis. Students registered from schools in all the surrounding areas are welcome to attend. As Mini Med School is a special event held outside the classroom, students will be responsible for making their own arrangements to miss a day of classes and for transportation to the venue. The Mini Med School Faculty is excited to be coming to BC's Southern Interior for the first time! Mini Med School is a travelling program with plans to be on the road for years to come! Previous locations have included Terrace, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Chilliwack, Nanaimo and Nelson. We want to give as many communities as possible the opportunity to interact with BC Children's Hospital's faculty, so we will not be returning to Vernon again for at least 5 years. This is a unique opportunity for 2024. If you have any questions, you can reach our Mini Med School Team at [email protected]. Nursing application process for high school students As you may know, high school students are unable to apply directly to our Nursing programs. Instead, they must complete 30 UG credits before becoming eligible to apply. Additionally, the application process for Nursing is competitive, so we encourage students to review the specific requirements outlined in our academic calendar. If a student applies to Nursing as their first choice but is deemed ineligible, their application will automatically be changed to their second choice program at KPU. This allows students to fulfill the requirements for Nursing in their second choice program and then reapply to Nursing in their second year once they have completed the required courses. For students interested in Nursing, we recommend booking a one-on-one session with our team for personalized guidance on the application process and academic requirements. Students can book an appointment here. |
