NEXT STEPS: From application to MacEwan studentHere are a few things students need to know.
Stay engagedAll official communications are sent to applicants’ myMacEwan email account. This account is set up after an applicant submits their application. This is how it works:
How to accept an offer of admissionApplicants can check the status of their application, outstanding items and their to-do list by launching myStudentSystem in the student portal (myPortal). After an offer of admission has been made, applicants have 21 days to both accept the offer and pay the confirmation deposit. If no action is taken, the application will be closed. Learn more about how to accept an offer of admission here. Applicants who have questions about their application, or how to accept an offer of admission should contact the MacEwan Academic Advising Centre. Plan and enrol in classes Starting March 2024, new students (i.e., applicants who have accepted an offer of admission and paid the confirmation deposit) will have access to the enrolment shopping cart and Schedule Planner in myStudentSystem to begin planning their Fall and Winter term registrations. Students should consult the Academic Calendar to help with academic planning and to explore courses. If they require assistance with choosing classes, they can consult with MacEwan’s Program Advisors. The Academic Calendar is another great resource to help with academic planning and course exploration. Students will be assigned an enrollment date which will be posted in their myStudentSystem account. We encourage students to register in classes as close to their allocated time as possible, as many classes fill up quickly. How to Enrol Missing Grade 12 coursework? Admission offers can be delayed if the applicant hasn’t declared their current and next term high school course registration including the Grade 12 courses they have completed, classes they are currently in and the classes they will be taking next term. Applicants should include this information when they apply through ApplyAlberta, but if they forget, they can complete MacEwan’s Confirmation of High School Registration form (also accessible through the student portal). Applied to the wrong intake term? It’s a common occurrence for applicants to submit an application for the incorrect intake term, as intake terms on the application are listed chronologically. If an applicant applies to the incorrect intake term, they can get assistance by emailing [email protected] using their myMacEwan email account. Deciding between a first-choice and second-choice program? If an applicant is placed on a waitlist/rank list for their first-choice program, MacEwan will automatically begin evaluation of their second-choice program. As a result, applicants may receive an offer of admission to their second-choice program before their first-choice program. Applicants must indicate on myStudentSystem whether they wish to accept or decline the offer to their second-choice program. If they decline the offer of admission to their second choice, they can indicate they would like to “stay on other program’s waitlist” for the first-choice program. This means their evaluation for the first-choice program will remain active. Neglecting to indicate a wish to stay on the other program’s waitlist will close evaluation of both programs. If they accept the offer of admission to their second choice, the evaluation of their first-choice program will automatically be closed, and they will be removed from the program’s waitlist/rank list. Applicants who have previously declined an offer of admission to their second-choice program can email [email protected] to request an evaluation of the second-choice be reopened at any time prior to the program’s application deadline.
