Welcome to the 2019–2020 selection year for the Morehead-Cain—the first merit scholarship program established in the United States. For more than thirty years, Canadian students have come to Carolina as Morehead-Cain Scholars and contributed to this campus as dynamic, enthusiastic students and leaders. They remain closely connected to the University, Chapel Hill, and each other as alumni. About half of our Canadian alumni live and work in Canada, and the rest are spread around the world, from the United Kingdom to Singapore, and all across the United States. The Morehead-Cain represents a compelling opportunity to study—and to make a difference—at one of the finest universities in the world: the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At Morehead-Cain, we choose scholars based on four criteria: leadership, moral force of character, scholarship, and physical vigor. In each high school senior class, there are a select few who embody these criteria and set a higher standard for the school community. We encourage you to nominate up to three of your strongest student-leaders for the scholarship. We have included instructions to help you with this process. As you begin to plan for this fall, please keep a few things in mind:
If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to call us, at (919) 962-1201 or email us at [email protected]. We look forward to the opportunity to get to know your nominees this year, and we appreciate your efforts on our behalf! JUSTINE R. This year we will be hosting a Spring Bootcamp at our Kelowna campus from March 23rd to 26th, 2020. Bootcamp 2020 registration are officially open as of September 3rd and certain missions are already starting to fill up! For those of you new to us, Digital Bootcamp is an annual hands-on experience for students in Grades 10, 11, 12 or recent high school graduates. Students who register will join us on campus in Kelowna for a four day, immersive, fun, test-drive of one, specific program area (animation, photography, interior design, audio engineering, film, photography and more!) Bootcamp Brochure: view online here Bootcamp Registration: www.digitalartschool.com/bootcamp This year, we will be offering Digital Golden Tickets to waive the registration fee for low-income students and families. However, they will not be available until February 14th and are in limited quantity. Until then, if you have a student you feel is eligible, please reach out to me directly. I am keeping a list of interested students and on February 14th will be giving out the Golden Tickets starting at the top of the list. Digital Golden Tickets are solely for students who would love to come to Bootcamp but, for financial reasons, wouldn't be able to attend without this assistance. This way they can attend Bootcamp for free, however, they would still have to pay for travel, lodging and food (although we do feed our Bootcampers lunch daily, which is included in their registration).
