In line with this support, we want to make sure you are aware of some of the changes we have made to how BC students can submit their transcripts to UCalgary. To outline these changes, we have released a blog to support you and your students through this process.
For non-semester/linear schools, students can continue to submit interim transcripts with their mid-year assessment or marks after January 1. Interim transcripts can be uploaded via the Student Centre; documents should include the student’s full name. If you have students needing additional support to submit their transcripts, please have them connect with us at [email protected] APPLICATIONS
We are thrilled to announce that prospective students interested in applying to Dalhousie can start their applications as early as October 15. We will be introducing a brand-new application system aimed at streamlining and simplifying the application process for prospective students. We understand that our previous application portal may have posed some challenges, and this new system has been designed with students in mind. Here's what you and students can look forward to with our improved application process: 1. Effortless Document Submission: Students can now conveniently attach all your official or unofficial transcripts and required documentation directly to your application portal. Whether you have PDFs or screenshots, our system accommodates various file formats. 2. Simplified Program Selection: Choosing students' desired program of study is now a lot more straightforward. Allowing them to select the program that aligns with their academic goals. 3. Improved Processing Time: For programs that do not follow a pooled admission process, students can expect fasters processing times. This means their application will be reviewed and decisions will be made more swiftly, allowing them to plan their academic journey efficiently. Applications submitted between now and January 31st will be considered for "Early Admission." Nova Scotia and Ontario students are encouraged to include their power school ID along with their transcripts. Early Admission entails a comprehensive evaluation of students’ academic potential, including a review of their grade 11 marks as indicators of future performance in year 12. To review the general admission requirements, please visit our dedicated page at dal.ca/generaladmissionrequirements. *Please note: Admission to many programs at Dalhousie is competitive; meeting the minimum average does not guarantee admission. Courses not required for admission to your student's program (electives) must have grades of 60% or higher to qualify as one of your five academic classes. SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE The application for General Entrance Awards will open October 15, 2023. There is a strict deadline of February 15 for applications and all supporting documents. Students can upload supporting documentation related to the awards directly to their application portal. We require their official first semester transcript or, for Nova Scotian and Ontario applicants, your provincial student ID number. For more information on these awards, students can visit: https://www.dal.ca/admissions/money_matters/awards-financial-aid/scholarships/prospective_students.html Tutorials for Students We have developed a series of informative tutorials, that will go live closer to when applications open, that are designed to guide them through key processes, including: · A step-by-step application walkthrough. · Instructions on how to effortlessly upload documents. · Guidance on checking application status. · How to confirm their admission Dalhousie Post-Care Tuition Waiver The Dalhousie Post-Care Tuition Waiver supports former youth-in-care who face unique and multiple barriers to accessing and persisting in post-secondary education. 10 tuition waivers will be awarded to former youth-in-care for undergraduate studies at Dalhousie within the 2024/2025 academic year. There is a wealth of information on our website here as well as our supports specifically for Indigenous students here. I want to also mention The First Peoples House (FPH) which is a social, cultural and academic centre for Indigenous students at UVic and serves as a safe and welcoming place that encourages the building of community. We encourage you to come in and be part of creating a supportive space for Indigenous students on campus. We ask that all those who enter the First Peoples House do so with respect for the ancestors, the original care takers of this land, and for each other.
