We hope everyone will attend! > Campus Tours > Faculty and Staff Presentations > Tuition Draws and Free Swag > Application fee waived Registration link Planning for Fall 2021 At Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), our planning is well underway. On March 5, 2021, we shared our plans for a significant return to campus this fall, and we are currently exploring how to offer a near full return to in-person learning experiences while ensuring the health and safety of our community. Students can sit in on virtual university classes, meet university students, and win some prizes. They can find out what university looks like right now and ask our current students any questions about making the right choice for Fall 2021. The last date is coming up on June 11. Registration Link Student Loan Application Assistance

The deadline to apply for Fall 2021 admission is June 30. Appointment Booking Our incoming students for Fall 2021 are already connecting with one another on our New Undergrads Facebook group, and we can feel their anticipation for the start of university life! The guidance you’ve provided to your students, especially through pandemic times, truly made a difference.
We have a few updates to cap off the school year. Whatever your summer plans may look like, we hope it will be an amazing one and we look forward to reconnecting in the Fall! COVID-19 UPDATESPlanning is underway for a safe return to campus in the Fall term. SFU will prioritize teaching, learning and research while continuing to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff. Updates for the SFU community will be posted on our Return to Campus website and SFU students will be kept informed via email communication. TIMELINE AND UNIVERSITY PREPHave your students accepted our admission offer and they’re wondering, what’s next? They can refer to this handy timeline on what to expect between now and September. We recommend all students to start working their way through University Prep, a free, self-paced, online course. The course will answer a lot of common questions such as “What is my program?”, “Which courses do I have to take?” and “How do I course plan?”. Students will also be introduced to useful resources, including how to connect with an academic advisor, as they move through the course. ADMISSION UPDATESWe continue to make admission offers for the Fall term. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s application, you’re welcome to connect with the Student Recruitment Team for an update. DEFERRALWe understand that due to individual circumstances, a student may not be able to start their studies for their admitted term. SFU has a deferral application process in place, and deferrals are granted for up to one year. For more information on the deferral process, visit our website. DID YOU KNOW?Studies show that living in on-campus residence among a like-minded community of students, and with easy access to university recourse, could lead to an increase in GPA. Residence life is an excellent choice for a student seeking convenient housing, greater academic success, and a full social life. SFU residences are located at the Burnaby Campus, and we offer all single occupancy rooms, with an all-you-care-to-eat meal plan. Residence applications are open for the Fall 2021 term. Learn more As your Grade 12 students move towards the end of their high school careers, we are here and excited to support them with their next steps to CapU through advising appointments.
To schedule an appointment, please have your students email: [email protected]. Course Planning Workshops with Academic Advising Admitted students can attend course planning workshops throughout the summer with our Academic Advising team. These workshops will help your students find important information to guide their decision making and determine the courses they need to meet their program’s requirements. To RSVP or see a list of upcoming sessions, visit our Workshops page. RSVP NOW CapU New Students Facebook Page We’d love for your newly admitted CapU students to join our CapU New Students Facebook page! This is a place for them to connect with their fellow new students, stay informed on important updates from the University and ask questions about their upcoming year. JOIN HERE Acceptance Packages Your newly admitted students may have received a CapU Acceptance package if they submitted an early application to Capilano University! These packages only go out to students who applied early, so it’s a fun opportunity to get engaged with CapU and potentially win a prize for sharing their unboxing experience through our social media channels. Program Spotlight: Costuming for Stage & Screen The story behind costume: Have you ever watched a film, theatre, or dance production and been fascinated by the costumes? It may have been the intricate layers of a period piece that transported you back to the seventeenth century or the evolution of a costume from new to dirty and bloody that captured your attention. Costumes are part of the way we understand and relate to character and story. They establish time and place, show action and events, helping us to let go of our reality and sink into the performance. Designed around the hands-on stitching, cutting and building of costumes, our unique 2-year program is augmented by technical and creative skills, studying style and changes in costume evolution, interpreting designer’s sketches, drafting patterns, dyeing textiles, and aging costumes. You’ll also learn about setting up production costume shops, running crew for stage performances and learning on-set film procedures including script breakdown and more. Admission into the program is still open for the 2021-22 academic year. Our classrooms are set up as professional workshops, located across the hall from the 8,000 square foot sound stage in the Bosa Centre for Film and Animation. The program is in a rare position to offer our students the opportunity to collaborate with emerging filmmakers and theatre artists. Through the course curriculum, students gain hands on experience on up to 15 films and six main stage theatre shows. Watch your calendar for the Bosa Centre Open House in the fall and join us for an open house with the School of Motion Picture Arts at Capilano University. Meet faculty and students and tour our studios. For more information about the Costuming for Stage & Screen program, visit capilanou.ca/costuming. Coming into effect in Fall 2022, KPU has revised the entry route into the nursing programs that previously listed Health Foundations as an admissions requirement. These changes are to give students more flexibility in which courses they can take to meet the entry requirements to apply for nursing at KPU. This increased flexibility may also give students more options to use their course credits from KPU to apply for nursing programs at other institutions. As a result, for Fall 2021 all qualified applicants will be offered a seat for their second choice program and we will not be proceeding with a Health Foundation intake.
Students planning on pursuing nursing can still start that journey by taking courses that meet the new admission requirements for nursing that come into effect in Fall 2022. For additional information about the new admission requirements, visit the University Calendar: calendar.kpu.ca/programs-az/health Students will begin to receive their offers of admission for their second choice programs this week. Students who accept their offer prior to June 22, 2021 will still receive priority registration in light of these changes. As noted previously, through this second choice program, they will begin to be able to work towards the admissions requirements for Nursing. Please encourage students to accept their offer prior to the June 22, 2021 deadline. Step 1: Login to Online Self-Service: kpu.ca/oss Step 2: Click Student Menu > Admissions > Pay My Deposit Step 3: Complete your payment As always, I am happy to answer any of your questions or help with this process. Last Call on Priority Registration for Fall Applications
Did you know that students can receive priority registration dates? Well, if you have a student that’s interested in attending KPU this fall, it’s not too late to receive priority registration dates for an open intake program if they meet all the admission requirements. The deadline to apply and complete their application (including paying their confirmation deposit) for priority registration is June 1st. Applications will continue to be accepted past June 1st but students will not receive priority registration. Education Assistant Certificate Students passionate about facilitating inclusion, communication, and social interaction among kids and teens might be interested in pursuing a career in education. We currently have a rare opportunity for these students to enroll in KPU’s Education Assistant program this September 2021. In previous years, this program has filled up rapidly and spots have been very difficult to come by. This year, we have a few seats to spare and it could be your students! If you have any questions, you may find it useful to read through these Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about the program and its requirements. However, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the entrance requirements. Advising Program (Head Start)Last month we introduced our newest advising program – Head Start. We have been receiving favourable responses on how KPU can provide support new students who may need additional support as they transition to post-secondary education. We thank you for the collaboration and look forward to continued support for your students. If you are unaware of this initiative, Head Start is a guided program for first year students undertaking undergraduate studies:
